
Seton Hall Classic Next for Kent State Volleyball

The Kent State volleyball team heads to the East Coast for the second weekend of the 2024 campaign and will play three contests at the Seton Hall Classic.
The Golden Flashes open the tournament with neutral site matchups against NJIT on Friday and Sacred Heart on Saturday. The weekend will conclude on Sunday against Seton Hall. This final match will be streamed on FloVolleyball.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
The Golden Flashes (0-3) lost to Delaware and twice to host Michigan during the opening weekend of the season.
Kent State was solid on the defensive side, holding opponents to a .206 hitting percentage. Junior Greta Bolognini led the way by averaging 3.10 digs per set, while redshirt sophomore Alexandria Connatser had a team-high eight total blocks.
Junior Mackenzie McGuire led the attack with 1.89 kills per set. Junior Kendall White (4.10 aps) and senior Chelsea Harvey (3.14 aps) split setting duties.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
NJIT
The Highlanders (1-4) went 1-3 at the Salt City Classic to start the season last weekend and then fell to Saint Peter's on Tuesday.
Outside hitter Sara Siefert has been the top attacker and averages 2.65 kills per set. Outside hitter Ema Torres has also been a go-to option and is averaging 2.30 kills per set. Middle blocker Ines Varela leads the team with 1.35 blocks per set.
Sacred Heart
The Pioneers went 2-1 at the UConn Invitational to start the season, defeating Youngstown State and Long Island before falling to the host Huskies. Outside hitter Camryn Luginbuhl is the top offensive option and averages 3.82 kills per set. Setter Gaby Zovko, the 2023 Northeast Conference Setter and Rookie of the Year, leads the way with 7.55 assists per set. Libero Miliani Villarreal averaged 4.45 dis per set over her first weekend as a collegian.
Seton Hall
The Pirates dropped all nine sets at the FAU Invitational last weekend. Setter Gwen Adler earned a spot on the All-Tournament with averages of 4.25 assists and 1.38 digs per set. Outside hitter Senna Roberts-Navarro leads the attack with 2.00 kills per set.
ALL-TIME VS. OPPONENTS
Kent State is 1-0 all-time against NJIT with a 3-0 victory in the only previous meeting on Sept. 8, 2018.
The Golden Flashes will play Sacred Heart for the first time this weekend.
Kent State is 1-1 against Seton Hall. The Flashes posted a 3-0 victory during the 1997 season and lost 3-0 to the Pirates during the 2021 season.
