
Kent State to Host Bowling Green in Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Game

KENT – Kent State Men's Basketball (12-7) welcomes the Falcons of Bowling Green State University (7-12) to the M.A.C. Center on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Golden Flashes host a pair of home games following a 1-1 week in which they defeated Toledo by 19 points and fell by just two against Ohio.
Last Time Out
Most recently, Kent State fell on to the Bobcats of Ohio University on Jan. 24 by a final score of 61-59. Cli'Ron Hornbeak's 13 points and 11 rebounds marked his fourth career double-double and his third on the season thus far. His other two came against Cleveland State (Nov. 23), and against NIU (Jan. 7) when he was joined by his teammate VonCameron Davis. Hornbeak's 11 rebounds led the Flashes. Davis also tallied 13 points against OU marking double-digit performance number 50 for the redshirt senior. He has done so in 15 of Kent State's 19 games this season. Marquis Barnett's 10 points marked his fifth time doing so this year, and his second in a row.
Scouting the Falcons
Bowling Green enters this matchup with a 7-12 record overall, and a 2-5 record in the MAC. Most recently the Falcons dropped an 84-71 decision at home to Toledo on Jan. 25. BGSU is averaging 76.3 points per game with four players averaging double-digits. Kent State's overall record against Bowling Green is 83-88, holding a 48-35 record against the Falcons in Kent, a 30-53 record in Bowling Green, and a 6-1 record in neutral locations. The Golden Flashes are looking to make it 11 straight wins over Bowling Green, as Kent State won the most recent meeting on March 15, 2024 eliminating the Falcons in the first round of the 2024 MAC Championship tournament.

Next Up for Kent State
Following Tuesday's game, Kent State will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 31 against the rival University of Akron Zips. It is the third flexed game for the Golden Flashes as the game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network. Tipoff inside the M.A.C. Center is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
