
Kent State Soccer To Face Central Michigan On The Road

Mount Pleasant, Mich.- The Kent State Soccer team starts a two-game Michigan road trip on Thursday as they take on the Central Michigan University Chippewas at the CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex at 7 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Soccer team was awarded another hard-earned three points on Sunday in a win over Northern Illinois University on Senior Day/Alumni Day by a score of 1-0, moving into third-place in the Mid-American Conference standings.
The Golden Flashes got on the board first in the second half as a Husky penalty in the box gave the Blue and Gold a Penalty Shot in the 67th-minute. Junior forward Kiyomi McCausland was able to capitalize as she put the ball in the top right portion of the net for a score. KSU held on the defensive end for the remainder of the game to secure the 1-0 victory at home.
The Flashes once again led the game in shooting with 12 shots compared to NIU's 6. However, the Huskies led the shots-on-goal category by a count of 5-3. Kent State led the corner kick tally by a count of 4-3; while junior goalkeeper Leah Shaffer racked up five saves in the win.
Scouting Central Michigan
The Chippewas have struggled in 2025, as they have been winless through 14 games, producing a record of 0-12-2; including an 0-6-2 conference record. They have been shut-out 11 times, and have scored five goals this season.
Junior midfielder Melaina Troy has led CMU in points this year with four; coming off of one goal and two assists. Sophomore forwards Ella Betzold and Ella Dykstra have each contributed one goal and one assist this year.
Series History
Sunday's contest will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Golden Flashes and the Chippewas, as CMU holds a slight edge in the series with a record of 12-11-6. The Flashes won last year's meeting by a score of 3-2 in Kent.
Up Next
After a contest with CMU, the Flashes will travel west to take on the Western Michigan University Broncos, who currently sit atop the conference standings. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
