
Kent State Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak To Five Games In Draw Against CMU

Mount Pleasant, Mich.-The Kent State Soccer team earned another point in Mid-American Conference Action, extending their unbeaten streak to five games in conference play on Thursday night as they forced a 1-1 draw on the road against Central Michigan.
The Golden Flashes came out of the gates fast as they scored the first goal of the game in the sixth minute as junior forward Josie Morgan put the ball in the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
KSU took the lead heading into the halftime break, but the Chippewas were able to answer with the equalizer in the 59th-minute. Jimena Perez Ayala scored for CMU on a penalty kick and the two teams remained deadlocked for the final thirty minutes to end the contest in a tie.
The Flashes once again led the game in shooting, putting up 17 shots compared to Central Michigan's eight. KSU also led in shots-on-goal 9-3; while winning in the corner kick tally by a count of 8-4 as well. Leah Shaffer added another pair of saves for the Blue and Gold, as Brylee Borgman contributed eight saves in net for the Chippewas.

Kent State will now head west to take on the Western Michigan University Broncos, who currently sit atop of the conference standings as the defending MAC Champs. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at the WMU Soccer Complex.
