
Kent State Soccer To Host Eastern Michigan

Kent, Ohio- The Kent State Soccer team wraps-up a three-game home stand on Thursday when they take on Eastern Michigan University in a pivotal MAC contest. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. inside Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium.
Last Time Out
The Kent State Soccer team dropped a tough, physical match from the visiting University at Buffalo Bulls on Sunday afternoon by a score of 1-0.
After no score in the first half, the Bulls scored in the first two minutes of the second half on a long shot from the left side of the field by Jasmine Guerber; she was assisted by Carolyn Hinkle. Both teams provided physical play with no goals for the remainder of the game as Buffalo came away with the victory.
Buffalo's defense held the Golden Flashes to no shots in the second half as the Bulls led the statistic by a tally of 8-4 with five shots on target opposed to three for the Blue and Gold. Kent State goalkeeper Leah Shaffer finished the contest with four saves, accounting for two in each half.
Scouting Eastern Michigan
The Eagles have produced a 4-5-1 record so far this season while going 2-1-1 in conference play to this point. They currently sit one spot above Kent State in the MAC Soccer standings.
Junior forward Olivia Sipsock leads EMU in points this year with seven, coming off of three goals and one assist. Freshman midfielder Kaylee Synk will also be a name to key in on as she comes into the contest with two goals this season.
Eastern Michigan's defense has proven to be one of the best in the conference early on as they have allowed just two goals through four games. They took down the Flashes' most recent opponent, Buffalo, by a score of 1-0 at home two weeks ago.
Series History
Thursday's matchup will be the 31st all-time meeting between KSU and EMU, as the Eagles hold the slight edge with a record of 15-14-1. Eastern Michigan won last year's contest in Ypsilanti while the Blue Gold won the three previous contests.

After hosting Eastern Michigan, the Golden Flashes will take the short trip to Akron for a matchup with their rival on Sunday at 1 p.m.
