
Kent State Falls in Baha Mar Nassau Championship Goombay Title Game

NASSAU, Bahamas — Kent State lost to Arkansas State, 74-54, in the 2025 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship Goombay Division title game on Sunday afternoon.
Nine three-pointers in the first 13 minutes put Arkansas State ahead 41-20. After the teams traded 6-0 runs, the Golden Flashes (4-5) closed the opening half with 9-3 run to get within 15 at halftime. Senior Tatiana Thomas scored seven of her career-high 17 points during the stretch.
Juniors Janae Tyler and Riley Rismiller converted layups in the first minute of the third period to extend the run. Kent State got within 10 twice in the period, including with 1:50 to play following two made free throws by Thomas. The Flashes then went nearly 10 minutes without scoring as the Red Wolves pushed the lead to as much as 23.
Thomas' career scoring performance came on 7-of-9 shooting, and she also tied her career-high with four steals. Kent State held a 38-31 rebounding advantage, with Rismiller and freshman Rylee Kalocay grabbing six each to lead the way.
Junior Mya Babbitt was named to the all-tournament team. Babbitt averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds during the two games of the event.
The Flashes are scheduled to return to action next Saturday, Dec. 6 with a road trip to Marshall.
