
Spears, Dunaway Highlight Golden Flashes in Action at Penn State National Open on Saturday

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Personal-best performances by juniors Karsyn Spears and Keeli Dunaway led the way as the Kent State track and field program concluded weekend competition at the Penn State National Open.
Spears earned the Golden Flashes' only victory of the meet with a time of 2:50.93 in the women's 1,000-meter run that ranks as the third fastest in program history.
Dunaway finished second in the women's triple jump while beating her previous PR multiple times for the second consecutive competition. The junior registered a jump of 41'-4.25" on her final attempt and remains at No. 7 on Kent State's all-time indoor performance list.
Senior Liam Vinskovich cleared 6'-7.75" to finish second in the men's high jump in his season debut. Sophomore Zane Cattage nearly matched his PR and placed fifth with a height of 6'-6".
A pair of Flashes took fourth in the 600-meter run, as redshirt sophomore Marinna Atanmo recorded a time of 1:35.59 in the women's race and junior Dylan McBride clocked a 1:20.49 in the men's race.
Redshirt sophomore Charles Pawlosky set an indoor PR of 55'-8.25" to finish fifth in the men's shot put.
Kent State had a trio of top-10 finishes in the 200m-meter dash invite. Sophomore Amryne Chilton took seventh in the women's race with a time of 24.72 seconds. In the men's race, sophomore Sean Callahan Jr. (22.19) placed ninth and fifth-year Dejon Manning (22.22) placed 10th.
Sophomore Shelby Grover was the final top-10 finisher on the day with a PR of 5'-5" for eighth in the women's high jump.
Kent State will head to Ashland University next weekend for the Jud Logan Light Giver Open on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8.
