CLEVELAND, Ohio – It was announced on Thursday that Kent State's Isaiah Ibit has won the Mid-American Conference Men's Golfer of the Week award. Ibit earns the honor after finishing tied for third place at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate, tallying a final score of 9-under-par.
Ibit recorded three consecutive rounds in the 60s for the second time in his freshman season this week with rounds of 68, 69, and 67. He previously accomplished the feat during a runner-up finish at the Canadian Collegiate in September, an effort which also saw him win the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week award.
Ibit has impressed in his freshman season for the Flashes. He has now tallied three top-five finishes and four top-20 finishes in his limited time at Kent State. With his three rounds in the 60s this week, Ibit has now racked up a joint team-high nine rounds in the 60s this season, tied with star senior Jordan Gilkison.
The Flashes' men's golf team will return to action on March 16, as they head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to take part in the General Hackler Championship.
