Kent State Drops Pair Saturday at South Florida Showdown

TAMPA, Fla. – Kent State lost to Wisconsin (8-0) and USF (8-3) during action at the South Florida Showdown on Saturday night.

Game 1: Wisconsin 8, Kent State 0 (5 innings)
Carley Penner and Brynn Libler started the game with singles, but only one Flash reached base the rest of the game.

Ella Johnson (1-1) and Abbey Pochie both threw 2.1 innings and combined for three strikeouts.

Game 2: South Florida 8, Kent State 3
The Golden Flashes wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. With one out in the top of the first, Brynn Libler singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. Katie Jo Moery then sent a liner up the middle that hit off the pitcher's glove and redirected to the shortstop, who sent an errant throw passed the first baseman and allowed Libler to score.

Three straight hits with two outs plated two more in the top of the third. Savannah Wing started it with a double and scored on a double by Moery. Delaney Robeson followed with a single down the left field line, and Moery scored to make it 3-0.

USF got on the board with a single run in the fourth and then scored six in the fifth to take the lead.

On Deck for the Flashes
The weekend at the South Florida Showdown comes to an end on Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. matchup against Troy.
