
Softball Back in Action at Mizuno Showdown

Kent State resumes the 50th varsity softball season this weekend at the Mizuno Showdown, hosted by the University of North Carolina. The Golden Flashes are scheduled to play five games over three days.
Live stats will be available for all games via StatBroadcast, and Saturday evening's game against host South Florida will be streamed on ACCNX.

About the Flashes
Kent State (3-11) competed against a challenging slate of opponents that including three games against power conference schools at the South Florida Showdown last weekend.
Junior Brynn Libler went 6-for-15 with four runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Flashes' offense. Libler has a .333 batting average on the season and takes a seven-game hitting streak into the weekend.
Senior Delaney Robeson is the top for the season with a .350 average and is tied for fifth in the Mid-American Conference with 12 RBIs. Robeson, who is five hits away from 100 for her career, also leads Kent State in on-base percentage (.422) and OPS (.847). Senior Katie Jo Moery has provided power to the lineup and is the team leader in extra-base hits (5) and slugging percentage (.457).
Freshman Ella Johnson (1-2) leads the pitching staff with 13 appearances and ranks fifth in the MAC with 17 strikeouts over 24.0 innings.

Kent State is 6-5 all-time against this weekend's competition.
The Golden Flashes defeated Harvard by identical 8-0 scores during the only two meetings between the programs in 1990.
Saint Joseph's won the only previous matchup, 2-1, on March 21, 1998 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Kent State is 4-4 all-time against the host Tar Heels. UNC won the most recent meeting, 6-3, in 2008. The Flashes are 2-3 in contests played in Chapel Hill.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will remain in the state for the final weekend of non-conference play with four games at the Ohio State Tournament from March 8-9.
