CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Delaney Robeson had a career-high four hits and blasted a two-run homer on Friday afternoon as Kent State fell to Harvard, 9-6, in its first game at the Mizuno Showdown.

Following her 4-for-4 day at the plate, Robeson has 99 hits during her Golden Flashes career.

Kent State (3-12) outhit the Crimson, 11-9, in the game. Seniors Katie Jo Moery and Savannah Wing added two hits each.

After Harvard took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third, the Flashes tied it in the top of the fourth. Robeson started the rally with a single and Moery followed with her second home run of the season. Two more hits and a walk loaded the bases, and sophomore Leilani Johnson tied it on a groundout.

The Crimson plated three in the fifth and sixth to go ahead 9-3.

Kent State rallied again in the top of the seventh and had the go-ahead run at the plate. After an error allowed the leadoff batter to reach, Robeson homered to make it 9-5. Moery then doubled and scored on a single by Wing. Sophomores Ellie Facher and Aaralyn Nogay followed with singles to load the bases and only one out, but a pair of strikeouts ended the game.

Freshman Ella Johnson got the start in the circle and recorded two strikeouts while allowing three runs over four innings.

The Flashes will resume action at the Mizuno Showdown on Saturday with contests against Saint Joseph's at 10 a.m. and host North Carolina at 12:30 p.m.
