
Grover Leads Kent State Women on Day 1 at MAC Indoor T&F Championships

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Shelby Grover placed second in the pentathlon to lead Kent State on Friday at the 2025 Mid-American Conference Women's Track and Field Championships.
Grover totaled 3,777 points over the five events of the competition and set a new personal-best of 41'-8.75" in the shot put.
The Golden Flashes sit in fifth place in the team standings with 21 points. Miami has the lead with 32 points.
Kent State had a pair of scorers total five points in the weight throw. Kennedy Landrus finished fifth with a throw of 57'-7" and Noel Frye took eighth with a mark of 56'-2".
Keeli Dunaway and Kyla Taress both recorded PRs while taking fifth in their respective events. eighth Dunaway soared 18'-11.75" in the long jump and Taress cleared 12'-6.75" in the pole vault.
Kent State also had four student-athletes advance to Saturday finals in running events. Amryne Chilton and Yissis Cortijo Dominc qualified in the 200-meter dash, Gabrielle Hammonds in the 60-meter hurdles, and Anna Jones in the one-mile run.
The final day of the championship meet will continue on Saturday with the shot put at 10 a.m. Running events will start at 1:30 p.m. with the mile.
