
Flashes Fall to Miami (OH) in MAC Tournament Semifinal

CLEVELAND – The Kent State Men's Basketball team fell short in Friday night's MAC Tournament semifinal game against Miami University by a final score of 72-64. A trio of Golden Flashes scored double-digits in ballgame as Jalen Sullinger led all scorers with 29 points.
Both sides were cold to start the game as Kent State's first nine points all came on Jalen Sullinger three-pointers matching Maimi's Peter Suder. The RedHawks took a slight advantage with under five minutes to play in the first half. Kent State turned a series of steals and rebounds into a fourth Sullinger three to take back the lead. Just before the break Cian Medley drained a step back three at the buzzer to give Kent State a 33-32 lead at halftime. The game seesawed into the final three minutes with Miami keeping a slight lead intact before a three from Kam Craft with 1:29 left play provided the edge the Redhawks needed. Miami held on as the Flashes had to start fouling as time expired.
At 138 games, VonCameron Davis stands alone having played in the most games in program history. Additionally, at 264-417, Cli'Ron Hornbeak is first in program history in career field goal percentage. Jalen Sullinger and VonCameron Davis remain 13th and 14th on the Kent State Men's Basketball all-time scorer's list. At 29 points, Sullinger recorded his third highest point total of the season.
