
Kent State Travels to Bowling Green for First MAC Softball Road Series

Kent State heads back on the road this weekend for a three-game Mid-American Conference series at Bowling Green. A doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday, with the series finale will be played on Saturday at 2 p.m.

About the Flashes
Kent State (7-19, 0-3 MAC) lost all three games of its MAC-opening series to Miami, but the bats got going as the weekend progressed. The Golden Flashes totaled nine hits, including a season-high four doubles, during Saturday's 14-9 setback in the series finale.
Senior Delaney Robeson leads the lineup in most hitting categories and ranks among the top six in the conference in hits (33), batting average (.407), slugging percentage (.456) and RBIs (25).
Senior Katie Jo Moery has also been a productive bat in the middle of the lineup and has a team-high 11 extra-base hits. Moery is tied for seventh in the MAC with seven doubles and enters the weekend with 98 career hits.
Sophomore Aaralyn Nogay has shown good plate discipline and ranks fifth in the conference with 14 walks while also leading Kent State with seven stolen bases.
Sophomore Megan Claerhout has reached base in eight consecutive games with a .421 batting average during this stretch. Claerhout led the Flashes with four RBIs in the Miami series.
Freshman Ella Johnson (3-4) is the national leader with 24 appearances and ranks fourth in the MAC with 40 strikeouts.
Scouting the Opposition
Bowling Green (7-18, 1-2 MAC) opened its home schedule on Tuesday and split a doubleheader with Green Bay. The Falcons boast a .262 batting average as a team and average 4.44 runs per game.
Seven different players have record 10 or more RBIs on the season. Hannah Hunt leads the way with 19 RBIs, while Addie Martin is right behind with 18. Martin has nine home runs and a .756 slugging percentage, ranking third in both categories.
Scarlet Anderson (3-2) is the ace of the pitching staff with a 3.16 ERA and 24 strikeouts.
Series History
Kent State is 82-47-1 all-time against Bowling Green. The Golden Flashes enter the series with a seven-game winning streak and won 17 straight games from 2012-19. Kent State outscored the Falcons 17-6 during a three-game sweep at Devine Diamond last season.

Kent State will be back in action at Devine Diamond on Tuesday, March 25 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Robert Morris.
