Leitner Launches Homer in Series Opener at CMU

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Redshirt sophomore Kendal Leitner homered for the second time this season as Kent State dropped the opening game of a Mid-American Conference series to host Central Michigan, 7-3, on Friday afternoon.
The Chippewas put four runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning.
Senior Delaney Nagy held Central Michigan scoreless over the next three innings before allowing two runs in the bottom of the fifth as the Chippewas extended their lead to 6-0.
The Golden Flashes cut the deficit in half in the top of the sixth, as Leitner followed a single by junior Brynn Libler and a hit batter with a three-run blast to left field.
Central Michigan added a final run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Flashes and Chippewas will conclude the weekend series on Saturday with a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
