Flashes Close Out Home Stand with Run Rule Victory

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team finished off their six-game home stand with a run rule 11-1 victory over the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets.
The Flashes jumped all over the Baldwin Wallace starter batting around and scoring seven runs in the first inning. Jake Casey would open the scoring with an RBI single out to left field and would come in to score just a few batters later on an error by the Baldwin Wallace third baseman. Two more runs would come in to score on bases loaded walks by Ripken Reese and Landon Tiesing. Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe would come up to the dish and drive in a run on an RBI single to the shortstop. Hayden Jatczak would bring in two more runs just one batter later on a single out to left field.
Dom Kibler would bring in the Flashes eighth run of the day on a sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the second inning.
Baldwin Wallace would score their lone run in the top of the fifth inning before Kent State would answer back with 3 runs of their own in the bottom half. The three runs would come in on three separate RBI singles by Luke Matthews, Payton Ebbing, and Connor Ashby.
The Flashes pitching staff was dominant allowing just the one run and striking out 12 Yellow Jackets. Evan Holewinski made the first start of his collegiate career pitching 2.1 innings allowing no runs and two walks while striking out ix of the nine batters he faced. Brody Krzysiak would follow up Holewinski and allow one run while striking three. Nick Guidas followed Krzysiak with 1.1 innings allowing no runs. Ben Rabatin would start the seventh and strike out the two batters he faced giving way to Peyton Cariaco to record the final out on just four pitches.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will hit the road and resume Mid-American Conference play on the road at Central Michigan. The Flashes and Chippewas are set for a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday and a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and Sunday.
