
Hellstrom Promoted to Soccer Associate Head Coach

KENT- Jenna Hellstrom has been named Associate Head Coach of the Kent State Soccer program after two years as an assistant coach on the sidelines at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium.
"I could not be prouder of the promotion of Jenna to Associate Head Coach," Head Coach Rob Marinaro said. "Our all-time leading scorer and even better person to mentor our ladies is priceless. We are thrilled and very fortunate to have Jenna here to help lead our Soccer Program."
During Hellstrom's tenure as Assistant Coach, Kent state has reached back-to-back MAC tournaments and the championship game once. Hellstrom has mentored on MAC Freshman of the Year, 10 All-MAC selections, five MAC All-Tournament team members, four All-Region honorees, and 18 Academic All-MAC award winners.
"I am truly excited and honored to be chosen the next Associate Head Coach of the women's soccer program," said Hellstrom. "I am dedicated to the program that gave me the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, and I'm hoping that I can have an influence on our current players, our recruits and those student athletes in the future. Once again, I want to thank Rob for believing in me and looking forward to moving this program forward in the future."
Last season, Hellstrom helped mentor a young Kent State team that made its way back into the MAC tournament after going 9-7-3 (5-4-2 MAC). Alisa Arthur had another phenomenal season for Kent State in the midfield leading the Flashes in goals (11), points (23), shots (23), and shots on goal (32). Arthur earned second team All-MAC honors alongside fellow senior midfielder Siena Stambolich. Freshman, Jules Dolinski, had a breakout campaign recording two goals and three assists en route to MAC Freshman of the Year honors. Joining Dolinski on the All-Freshman team was Allison Collins, Katie Henahan, and Ali Weibel.
In 2023, Hellstrom helped guide a Kent State team that made its return to the MAC Championship game after a 12-7-2 (7-4 MAC) season.ย Alisa Arthurย had a breakout year for Kent State in the midfield leading the Flashes in goals (10), assists (6), points (26), shots (61), and shots on goal (32) while tying the program record and tying for sixth in the nation in game-winning goals with six. Arthur earned First Team All-MAC honors alongsideย Kelsey Salopek, who moved back from the midfield to defense. Newcomersย Alanna Raimondoย andย Josie Morganย both earned MAC All-Freshman Team honors.
Hellstrom is a former member of the Canadian Women's National Soccer Team who was called in as recently as February 2023 when she played for the Canadians in the She Believes Cup. She was a member of the 2019 World Cup team that reached the Round of 16 and has had stints at the club level with Rosengard, Djurgarden, Vaxjo, Washington Spirit, Orebro FC, and Dijon FC. ย Prior to her professional career,ย Hellstrom had an illustrious career at Kent State, finishing as the program's all-time leader in goals (37), assists (33), and points (107). She became the first All-American in Kent State soccer history when sheย earned NSCAA Second Team All-American honors in 2016.
As a senior in 2016, Hellstrom led the Mid-American Conference in points (38) and assists (10) and was second in goals with 14. She finished the season ranked seventh in the nation in points per game (2.0), 11th in assists per game (0.53) and 14th in goals per game (0.74), being named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year as well as earning First Team All-MAC, NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team and MAC All-Tournament Team honors
During her junior season in 2015, Hellstrom had ten multiple-point games, scoring at least one point in 14 of 19 contests en route to being named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-MAC. She led the conference in most offensive categories, including points, points per game, shots, shots per game, assists per game, and game-winning goals, as well as finishing fourth in the country in assists and eighth in assists per game. Hellstrom was named First Team OCSA All-Ohio and NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region.
In 2014, Hellstrom led the Flashes with 20 points en route to being named First Team All-MAC, All-Ohio First Team, and College Sports Madness All-MAC First Team. The year prior, she was named the MAC Freshman of the Year after tallying five goals and five assists in 16 games. She also earned a spot on the Division One OSCA All-Ohio Team and College Soccer Madness All-Conference Team.
Hellstrom graduated from Kent State in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Sport Administration and a minor in Business.
