
Kent State Track and Field Tallies Nine Event Victories on Saturday

Kent State track and field student-athletes totaled victories in nine events on Saturday during competition at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational and the Ashland Alumni Open.

Alexandre Malanda won the men's triple jump with an outdoor personal-best mark of 52'-8.75" that ranks fourth in Kent State history. Nicolas Saviron placed fourth in the event with a jump of 48'-8.25".
The Golden Flashes' men's 4x100-meter relay squad of Sean Callahan Jr., Ryan Gruss, Dejon Manning and Jaheim Jones was also victorious in a time of 39.94 seconds. Individually, Callahan Jr. and Gruss finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the men's 100-meter dash. Callahan's PR of 10.41 seconds is the 10th fastest in program history.
Zamen Siyoum placed second in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 13.99 seconds that puts him at No. 6 on Kent State's all-time performance list.
Svenia De Coninck followed a victory in the women's long jump on Friday with a third-place showing in the women's high jump. De Coninck cleared a season-best height of 5'-9.25".
Ashland Alumni Open
A pair of freshmen earned javelin throw victories after competition was postponed on Friday. Payton Shippee won the men's competition with a personal-best throw of 183'-11", while Kristen Jay took the women's competition with a mark of 151'-8".
Monica Naudin posted the final win in field events with a season-best mark of 37'-2.5" in the women's triple jump.
On the track, Beau Harkelroad won the men's 110-meter hurdles in 14.57 seconds and set a new PR of 54.46 seconds in the men's 400-meter hurdles for second place.
The Flashes also performed well in the women's hurdles. Alexandria Verbancic won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:01.81 and Destiny Nash was second in 1:04.03. In the 100-meter hurdles, Gabrielle Hammonds (14.07) finished second and Andrea Filote (14.36) finished third.
Ethan Yost crossed the finish line first in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 3:56.71.
