
Flashes Hit the Road for Pivotal MAC Series at Ball State

KENT- The Kent State Golden Flashes Baseball will hit the road for a pivotal three-game Mid-American Conference series against the top seeded Ball State Cardinals.
The two MAC powerhouses are set for a 3 p.m. first pitch on Friday and a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and Sunday.
All three games will be streamed on Ball State All-Access. Live stats will also be provided.
About The Flashes
Kent State enters Muncie at 29-14 on the season and 16-5 in MAC play. The Flashes are currently second and just one game behind the Cardinals in the conference standings. Kent State went 8-1 on their recent nine-game home stand including a series sweep of Ohio Bobcats and a series win over the rival Akron Zips.
The Flashes feature not only one of the deepest lineups in the Mid-American
Conference but in all of Division 1 Baseball. Kent State leads the MAC in a quite a few offensive categories including batting average (.315), runs scored (417), doubles (104), triples (24), runs batted in (389), total bases (759), slugging percentage (.530), and stolen bases (101). The Flashes' 101 stolen bases is good for 23rd in the nation and 40 higher than the next highest in the MAC with 61 stolen bases by Bowling Green and Central Michigan.
Senior, Eric Chalus was named the MAC Pitcher of the Week last week following a 2-0 week. The Bethel Park Pa. native pitched seven shutout innings striking out seven batters.
In Wednesday's run-rule victory over the Youngstown State Penguins Chalus pitched two shutout innings striking out three of the six batters he faced.
The senior emerged from the Flashes bullpen again Sunday afternoon against Akron pitching five shutout innings while striking out four to help Kent State secure the series victory over Akron.

Scouting the Opposition
Ball State enters the weekend at 31-14 on the season and sit atop of the MAC standing at 17-4 in conference play.
The Cardinal's ace, Keegan Johnson, is the reigning MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year as well as a first team All-MAC selection. Johnson is 7-1 across 11 starts in his sophomore campaign. The left-hander is pitching to the tune of a 3.34 ERA, has struck out 64 batters across 59.1 innings, and is limiting batters to a .203 batting average.
Dylan Grego leads the Cardinal's offense starting all 45 games and hitting .372 on the year. The junior leads the team in runs (43), hits (70), RBIs (46), total bases. (121), and slugging percentage (.644).
