Flashes Comeback to Take Game Two Over Eagles

YPSILANTI- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team bounced back from yesterday's defeat to mount another ninth inning comeback and take game two over the Eastern Michigan Eagles by a score of 6-5.

Kent State would get on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning thanks to a Luke Matthews leadoff triple and he would score just a few pitches later on a wild pitch.

Jake Casey has continued to swing a hot bat for the Flashes and would score two runs on a hustle double out the right field. Hayden Jatczak would extend the Kent State lead with a solo shot in the fifth the extend the lead to 4-0.

Like they did yesterday Eastern Michigan would respond with three runs in the bottom f the fifth, one run to tie it in the sixth, and take the lead on an inside the park home run in the seventh.

Kent State would take the lead with two runs in the top of the ninth without recording a hit. Ripken Reese would open the inning with a four pitch wallk, Matthews would pop out to second, Jatczak would draw a four-pitch walk, and then Casey would draw a five pitch walk to load the bases. Head Coach, Jeff Duncan, would then turn to Dom Kibler to pinch hit off the bench and he drew a bases loaded four pitch walk to tie the game at five. Brody Williams would then step up and serve a fly ball out to center that was deep enough to score Hayden Jatczak on the sacrifice fly.

Gavin Jones got the start on the mound for Kent State and pitched six solid innings allowing four runs while striking out five Eagles. The Flashes would then turn to Eric Chalus out of the bullpen and the left-hander delivered with three innings of one run ball while striking out five Eagles. The win was Chalus' sixth of the season and ties him for the team lead.

On Deck for the Flashes

Kent State and Eastern Michigan will meet for a rubber match on Saturday for the last game of the regular season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
