MUNCIE- The Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team fell to the Ball State Cardinals 1-2 in extra innings on Saturday afternoon.
Jacob Bean got the start on the mound for the Flashes and pitched a gem. The sophomore pitched seven innings of one run ball while striking out six Cardinals. Bean matched his career long with seven innings and a new career high in pitches thrown with 99.
Ball State would get on the scoreboard first with an RBI single in the bottom of the second.
Both teams would threaten with runners on base but clutch pitching and defense kept the score where it was.
The Flashes would get the game-tying run when Sawyer Solitaria would come in to score on a Micah Rienstra-Kiracofe sacrifice fly.
Kent State fireman, Peyton Cariaco, replaced Bean out of the bullpen and pitched two shutout innings to send the game to extra innings.
After putting the Flashes down 1-2-3 in the top of the tenth the Cardinals would walk it off with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
On Deck for the Flashes
