Kent State Football Alumnus Julian Edelman Selected for New England Patriots Hall of Fame Class of 2025

KENT, Ohio –– Kent State Hall of Famer Julian Edelman has been named the 37th inductee for the New England Patriots Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
"This is an amazing accomplishment for Julian Edelman to be recognized as one of the greatest New England Patriots of all-time," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Randale L. Richmond. "Edelman is one of the elite competitors to come through Kent State. It brings us great joy to see him honored this way."Â
Edelman started for the Golden Flashes from 2006-2008. In three seasons, Edelman threw for 4,997 yards (7th all-time) and 30 touchdowns (6th all-time). Edelman also rushed for 2,483 yards (9th all-time) and 22 touchdowns. In Edelman's senior season, he rushed for 1,370 yards (3rd all-time single season) and 13 touchdowns. Edelman still holds the record for most rushing yards in a single season by a quarterback. Edelman also ranked 3rd for the most total offense in an individual season with 3,190 (1,370 rushing and 1,820 passing).
Following his senior season, Edelman was drafted in the 7th round, pick 223 by the New England Patriots in the 2009 NFL Draft. Edelman was switched to receiver and became one of the Patriots all-time leading receivers. Edelman went on to play in 11 seasons and finished with 620 receptions for 6,822 yards and 36 touchdowns. Edelman also carried the ball 58 times for 413 yards. Edelman was also used as a returner, with 177 punt returns for 1,986 yards and four touchdowns while returning 30 kickoffs for 626 yards. Edelman also went 6-6 passing for 128 yards and one touchdown. Edelman was also part of three Super Bowl victories and was named the Super Bowl LIII MVP, where he caught ten passes for 141 yards, and the Patriots defeated the Rams 13-3.
