Four Kent State University Student-Athletes Attend the Black Student-Athlete Summit in Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. — Four standout student-athletes from Kent State University recently participated in the 2025 Black Student-Athlete Summit, held May 21–24 in Chicago, Illinois. The summit, a nationally recognized event dedicated to empowering and uplifting Black student-athletes, brought together over a thousand collegiate athletes, administrators, and leaders for four days of networking, education, and inspiration.
Representing Kent State, Nylan Brown, Leilani Johnson, Antoine Brown, and Adalynn Ginley attended a variety of powerful sessions, including:
- It's A Mind Game — exploring mental health strategies for athletes
- The Culture of Leadership — unpacking what it means to lead with integrity and purpose
- Life After Sport — helping athletes prepare for life beyond competition
- There Is More to Us — a panel focused on identity, empowerment, and personal growth
The summit featured keynote addresses, interactive panels, and breakout discussions with Dr. Leonard N. Moore and Jess Sims. Sessions like Standing on Business, Be You!, and The NIL Experience offered valuable insights into branding, leadership, and career readiness.
Some other high-impact speakers included Baron Davis, Jemele Hill, Renee Montgomery, Rich Paul, and more.
"I'm excited our student-athletes had the opportunity to learn from industry experts," said assistant athletic director for student-athlete development & leadership, Michial Hollins. "This experience will enable them to leverage their position as student-athletes and lead their peers on best practices at Kent State."
