CLEVELAND, Ohio- Sophomore defender Allison Collins has earned Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.
Collins scored the only goal of the contest for the Golden Flashes on the road against the Northwestern University Wildcats on Sunday to force a 1-1 draw against some of their toughest competition of the season.
The Toronto, Ontario native's shot was by far the longest of the season for Kent State, as she drilled the ball from well behind the box. It landed in the top-right portion of the goal. She was assisted by Mia Cleroux and Kelsey Salopek in the 79th minute.
Collins and the Flashes are back in action at home on Thursday as they will take on the Youngstown State Penguins at Zoeller Field at Dix Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
