
Cross Country Gears Up for the All-Ohio Classic

The Kent State cross country teams look to carry momentum from the Wooster Invitational into the second competition of the season on Friday evening. The Golden Flashes will travel to Cedarville, Ohio to run at the 2025 All-Ohio Classic for the first time since 2021.
The women's 6K is set to begin at 6 p.m. followed by the men's 8K at 6:40 p.m. Both races will be held at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Junior Ella McCollom opened the season with a first-place finish at the Wooster Invitational, becoming the first Golden Flashes woman to win a race since 2015. McCollum finished the 4K course in 15:12.7, which was more than eight seconds ahead of every other runner. Graduate student Grace Smith (15:46.3), sophomore Nora Salem (15:46.3), freshman Camille Dunifer (15:47.4) and sophomore Alexis Tracy (15:53.0) also recorded sub-16:00 times to place in the top 10..
The young runners on the men's side hope to build off their impressive debuts. Freshmen Michael Hanselman and Caleb Wilcox secured top 10 finishes in the 4-mile race. Hanselman was fourth with a time of 21:44.5 while Wilcox finished eighth (22:02.6).
