PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
Kent State's first-year runners have led the way so far. On the men's side, Michael Hanselman is the only runner for the Golden Flashes to finish top-10 in both races of the season. Hanselman finished ninth with a time of 25:06.8 in the 8K at the All-Ohio Classic last weekend. Tanner Smith, Owen Kelly and Caleb Wilcox have joined him as the team's four top finishers each week.
On the women's side, freshman Camille Dunifer was the top performer at the All-Ohio Classic and finished in 22:47.7 for 18th place. Graduate student Grace Smith and junior Ella McCollom have also been top runners for Kent State early on. McCollom opened the season with a first-place showing at the Wooster Invitational, becoming the first Flash to win a women's race since 2015.
