
Golden Flashes Host #25 Miami (OH) on Tuesday Night

KENT – Kent State Men's Basketball (14-4, 5-1 MAC) seeks to earn another Mid-American Conference victory on Tuesday evening when they welcome the undefeated Miami (OH) University RedHawks to the M.A.C. Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. It marks Kent State's only scheduled regular season meeting with Miami (OH) during the 2025-026 season, and their first meeting since the 2025 MAC Tournament. It will also be Kent State's second game against a ranked opponent this season, and their first time hosting a ranked team since Jan. 25, 2019 against #15 Buffalo.
Last Time Out
Most recently the Flashes defeated the Toledo Rockets at home on Jan. 16. The two ball clubs went basket for basket out of the gate with both teams making things difficult for the other. Kent State trailed sitting at 14 points close to five minutes before orchestrating a run to tied the game back up at 19, then 21. Brenden Moss, Delrecco Gillespie, and Dezmon Briscoe closing the gap with late second half shots. Kent State trailed by six points after the first 20 minutes. The Flashes began to storm back five minutes into the second as Gillespie blocked a dunk on one end following it up with a layup on the other end to make it a three-point game at 15:30 left to play. Cian Medley hit a three to tie the game a 53 before taking their first lead of the second half on a Rayvon Griffth tip-in. Kent State went on a 7-3 run to push the lead to 68-62. The Rockets closed the gap to one possession with under 1:41 to play. Gillespie and Jahari Williamson kept the foot on the gas for Kent State in the closing seconds as the Flashes closed it out in foul shots. 87-84 was the final.
The Golden Flashes vs Miami (OH)
The Kent State and Miami (OH)'s men's basketball programs have a history that dates back to the earliest days of the Mid-American Conference first meeting in December of 1948. Tuesday will the 159th matchup between the two. All-time Kent State holds a record of 60-98 against the RedHawks. The Golden Flashes have won six of the last 10 meetings between the two. Miami (OH) won all three games during the 2024-2025 season including on March 14, 2025, in the MAC Tournament. However, it was Kent State selected to the National Invitation Tournament last season making a run to the quarterfinals.
