CLEVELAND – Kent State has been picked seventh in the 2026-27 Mid-American Conference women's basketball preseason poll, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
The Golden Flashes totaled 59 points in the poll, which was just two behind Eastern Michigan for sixth. Ball State was picked first with 111 total points.
Kent State returns four players who started at least 10 games last season. Redshirt junior Janae Tyler, an All-MAC honorable mention selection in 2025, was limited to 10 games and averaged 10.5 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. Senior Riley Rismiller joins her inside after averaging 8.2 points and a team-best 5.9 rebounds per contest. MAC Sixth Player of the Year Emory Klatt (6.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg) provides additional depth in the post.
Corynne Hauser (8.6 ppg) returns for her fifth season as a Flash and provides veteran experience in the backcourt. Sophomore Anna Campanelli (4.7 ppg) averaged 6.2 points per game and shot better than 40 percent from three-point range over the final 11 games of the season.
Fans will have two opportunities to see the team in action at the M.A.C. Center over the next couple weeks, as Kent State will host Slippery Rock for an exhibition contest on Wednesday, Oct. 28 and then open the regular season against Troy on Monday, Nov. 2.
