FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel Women's Golf team finished in 4th place in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Monday evening, tying their season-best final with an 898 and posting their best team placement of the season.Â
Aryn Matthews led the way for the Golden Flashes with a 7th place individual finish and a +2 overall score. The junior from Ontario tied her collegiate career record with a 218 over the 54-hole tournament.Â
Alongside Matthews in the top 20 golfers of the tournament were Veronika Kedronova (tied for 13th) and Gracie Larsen (tied for 17th). Kedronova had a huge bounceback performance in Arkansas with an impressive 11 birdies in the event. Despite a rocky start with a +7 first round, Kedronova shot two under par in round two to leapfrog herself towards the top of the standings.
Larsen also had a much better outcome on Monday than the previous tournament, improving her ability to bogey less and make par more often. Larsen's improvement throughout the tournament in Arkansas was also monumental as she birdied hole 15 in the second and third round after shooting five strokes over par on the same hole in the first round. Â
A standout statistic in the fall season so far is that the Golden Flashes have had a different individual leader in each event, showcasing the team's versatility amongst the student-athletes. Â
Alabama ended up winning the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with four of the top 10 golfers being from the Crimson Tide. Meanwhile, Arkansas' Maria Jose Marin won the individual crown with a -12 final score.Â
