
Furuta Tallies Career-High 34 Digs Against Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Lesley Furuta tallied a career-high 34 digs on Friday as Kent State lost to first-place Toledo, 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 15-25, 22-25).
Furuta's performance is tied for the 11th best single-match total in program history and the most since 2019. Only one Division I player has recorded more digs in a four-setter this season.
The Golden Flashes (7-10, 1-5 MAC) totaled 101 digs as a team, the most since March 2021. Senior Christina Vigil (16), sophomore Catie Patterson (13) and junior Maggie Kachmarik (10) also had double-digit digs in the contest.
Junior Vanessa Imoh recorded a career-high 16 kills to lead Kent State's attack. Junior Nadia Miller and sophomore Macie Moreland added 11 kills each. Vigil finished the night with 41 assists for her fifth double-double of the season.
Kent State will be back on the road next week for matches against Central Michigan on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and Thursday, Oct. 15.
