
Flashes Fall to Top-Seeded Miami in MAC Tournament Quarterfinals

CLEVELAND — Kent State lost to top-seeded Miami, 65-58, in a Mid-American Conference Women's Basketball Tournament quarterfinal contest at Rocket Arena on Wednesday.
The Golden Flashes (15-16) trailed by as many as 16 points late in the second quarter before battling to get within two on a traditional three-point play by redshirt junior Corynne Hauser in the opening minute of the fourth.
Kent State scored just one point over the next six minutes of action and fell behind by 14 but continued to fight and trimmed the deficit to six in the final minute.
Junior Mya Babbitt recorded her first collegiate double-double and led the Flashes with 13 points and career-high 11 rebounds. Junior Riley Rismiller added eight boards to help outrebound the RedHawks, 45-43. Senior Tatiana Thomas and sophomore Emory Klatt scored 10 points each to join Babbitt in double-figures.
Senior Dionna Gray added two assists to her season total to finish with 153, the most by a Kent State player since the 2007-08 campaign. Gray concludes her career seventh on the all-time assists list with 395.
