
Golden Flashes Travel to Take on Miami (OH) in Three-Game Series

OXFORD, Ohio – Kent State Softball (14-13, 4-2 MAC) is set to begin their third Mid-American Conference series of the season this weekend on the road against the RedHawks of Miami (OH) University. The series begins on Friday, March 27 at 3:00 p.m. with game one followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. The Golden Flashes have won three straight going into this weekend taking their final game last weekend at Buffalo and following it up with a midweek two-game sweep of Mercyhurst. The games will be streamed via CBOX Sports
Last Time Out
The Golden Flashes showcased late game heroics earlier this week sweeping a pair against the Mercyhurst Lakers with two walk-offs. In the opener, Kent State trailed 1-0 before rallying for two runs including a walk-off RBI single from Gabby Quinn in the bottom of the seventh bringing home Kelsey Salopek earning the 2-1 victory. Meadow Ferri picked up the win in relief. Kent State came out on top in a back-and-forth affair in game two. The Flashes trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh before Caleigh Shaulis delivered a game tying RBI double, and Megan Claerhout followed with the decisive single to center to send the Golden Flashes home with a 6-5 walk-off win and the series sweep.
Scouting Miami (OH)
The Miami (OH) RedHawks enter this series with an overall record of 21-8, and 3-3 record in conference. The RedHawks are hitting.327 as a team with 40 home runs through 29 games. Leading the charge is Bailey Manos, who is slashing .438 with 10 home runs and 36 RBIs, while Danitza Hernandez (.400, 8 HR, 33 RBI) and Katy Olive (.367, 8 HR, 24 RBI) give Miami a dangerous middle of the order. In the circle, the RedHawks lean on a three-headed rotation led by Angelina Ricciardi (9-3, 3.35 ERA), Presley Hosick (6-3, 2.41 ERA) and Léa Chevrier (6-2, 3.13 ERA).
On Deck for the Flashes
The Golden Flashes will be back in action during the weekend of April 3-4 hosting Bowling Green State University at Devine Diamond. The series gets underway on Friday, April 3 at 3:00 p.m., and finishes up with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 4 with start times of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
