DEKALB, Ill. – Kent State Softball (17-22, 7-11 MAC) fell in their final contest of the weekend at Northern Illinois University by a final score of 10-4. The Golden Flashes score four runs on seven hits with a pair of errors.

Northern Illinois plated three runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the second to build a 7-1 advantage.

A bright spot for the Flashes came in the second inning when Ciara Camacho reached on an error and eventually scored on a Brooke Aberle RBI single to pull the Flashes within 3-1.

The Flashes answered with their best inning of the day in the fourth. Camacho launched a solo home run to get things started, and Aberle followed with a bunt single before Aaralyn Nogay delivered a two-run triple to right field to score Aberle and make the game 8-3.

Nogay added her third hit of the afternoon in the sixth in the form of a run-scoring single that plated Alex Trevena, who had singled and stole second. This accounted for Kent State's fourth and final run.

Nogay was the offensive standout on the day, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs driven in. Aberle contributed two hits and an RBI, while Camacho's home run gave the Flashes a spark in the fourth.

On Deck for the Flashes

Kent State will return to action in Devine Diamond during the weekend of April 17-18. The Golden Flashes will take on Ohio University on Friday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m., then a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
