EVANS, Ga. – Veronika Kedronová of the Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team shot a pair of 2-over-par 74s at Champions Retreat Golf Club to finish tied for 53rd at the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
Kedronová, the 51st-ranked amateur in the world, carded identical rounds of 74 across two days on the Jack Nicklaus-designed Bluff nine and the Arnold Palmer-designed Island nine. The cut fell at 1 under, with 32 of the 72 golfers in the field advancing to Saturday's final round at Augusta National Golf Club.
In Wednesday's opening round, the Kent State junior got off to a fast start with a birdie on her first hole and reached 3 under through 12 holes before a rough four-hole stretch pushed her to 2 over. Thursday's round followed a similar pattern — a double bogey and two bogeys in her first four holes put her at 4 over early, but she played even par over her final 14 holes, including a birdie at No. 14.
Stanford commit Asterisk Talley, 17, holds the lead at 11 under par heading into Saturday's final round at Augusta National after going bogey-free through 36 holes at Champions Retreat.
Kedronová and the rest of the field will walk Augusta National on Friday for an official practice round before the top 32 compete in Saturday's final round.
