
Chilton Breaks Kent State 200-Meter Dash Record Friday at Louisville

Kent State sprinter Amryne Chilton ran a record-setting time of 23.06 seconds to win the women's 200-meter dash on Friday at the University of Louisville's Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational. The Golden Flashes also had athletes in action at the Ashland Alumni Open.

Kent State earned three event victories on Saturday, including a sweep of the 200m. Amryne Chilton (first), Casey Musgrave (sixth) and Laila Eiland (ninth) all recorded top-10 times on the Flashes' all-time performance list in the women's race. Chilton's record-setting time was 0.20 seconds faster than the previous record that was recorded in 2019. Musgrave's time of 23.77 seconds ranks fifth in program history and Eiland's time of 23.92 seconds ranks seventh.
Sean Callahan Jr. won the men's 200m with a time of 20.76 seconds. Zavion Mattox also had a strong performance and placed sixth in 21.08 seconds.
The final victory was claimed by Dylan McBride, who clocked an outdoor PR of 1:50.81 in the men's 800-meter run. Preston Rieger finished fifth with a season-best time of 1:52.29.
Matilde Morbin placed second in the women's javelin with a throw of 136'-4".
The Flashes had a trio of impressive performances in the long jump. Amare Hall soared a personal-best 25'-6", which is the No. 2 mark in school history, to placed third in the men's 'A division' competition. Luigi Case finished third with a season-best jump of 24'-9.75". In the women's 'B division', Alexa Nestor took fifth with a personal-best 19'-11.75", which is tied for the fifth best mark in the Kent State record book.
ASHLAND ALUMNI OPEN
Kennedy Landrus was the Flashes' top performer and placed fifth in the women's hammer throw elite competition with a personal-best mark of 174'-5". Madelyn Jenkins recorded a PR of 171'-11" to win the regular women's hammer. Noel Frye was right behind in second with a throw of 171'-10". Kristen Jay recorded a top attempt of 167'-2" to finish fourth in her first time competing in the event for the Flashes.
In the men's hammer throw, Donovan Crawford was the top finisher and placed sixth with a throw of 176'-8". Riley LaPorte recorded a personal-best throw of176'-4" to finish seventh.
