AKRON, Ohio - In a day where only two teams played better than they did in Round 1, the Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team matched their 2-under 278 from yesterday to extend their lead over the field to 11 strokes through 36 holes of the 2026 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championship at Firestone Country Club's Fazio Course.
Only four golfers in the field shot under par on Monday, compared to six in Round 1. Three of those four wore Kent State.
Junior Veronika Kedronová posted a 1-under 69 to extend her lead over Eastern Michigan's Savannah de Bock to two strokes. Kedronová's birdies came on Nos. 4, 10, and 15. Her 36-hole total of 136 (-4) ranks among the best two-round performances in MAC Championship history.
Sophomore Petra Babicová made the biggest jump of the day for the Golden Flashes and the second-largest in the tournament, climbing 12 spots to T-9, anchored by her own 1-under 69. After a bogey on the second hole, Babicová grabbed a birdie three holes later on No. 5, then shot even par across the next 12 holes before closing with a birdie on 18.
Sophomore Gracie Larsen jumped nine spots to T-5 with the third Kent State 69 of the day. Larsen turned in an even-par front nine before birdieing 11, then went bogey-birdie on 16 and 17 to finish her round.
Senior Leon Takagi shot a 1-over 71 but remains in third place individually, sitting behind de Bock after carding Kent State's second clean front nine of the day.
Sophomore Isabella Goyette finished the day at 3-over for a tournament total of 4-over, leaving her T-11 individually and within striking distance of a top-10 finish heading into Tuesday's final round.
Bowling Green sits second at 7-over 567, with Eastern Michigan in third at 11-over 571.
