
Golden Flashes Sit Eighth After Round One at NCAA Chapel Hill Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Kent State women's golf team opened the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional with a 9-over-par 289 on Monday at The UNC Finley Golf Course, placing the Golden Flashes eighth among the 12-team field after the first of three rounds.
Veronika Kedronová and Petra Babicová led Kent State with matching rounds of 1-over 71, leaving the duo tied for 18th individually on a day when only 11 players in the field broke par.
Leon Takagi added a 3-over 73 to sit in a tie for 31st, while Isabella Goyette carded a 74 (+4) to share 38th. Gracie Larsen rounded out the counting scores with a 75 (+5), good for a tie for 44th.
Host North Carolina set the pace with a 6-under 274, followed by Texas at 1-under and Virginia at 1-over. Oklahoma State and Mississippi State are tied for fourth at 2-over, with NC State (+3) sixth and Michigan State (+6) seventh. The top five teams after 54 holes advance to the NCAA Championships, set for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
Kent State sits six shots back of sixth place and seven off the current cut line with 36 holes remaining.
ROUND 2
The Flashes will play alongside Michigan State and Furman in Round 2, with all five Kent State golfers teeing off Hole 1 between 8:55 and 9:39 a.m. Larsen leads off the Kent State lineup at 8:55, followed by Goyette (9:06), Takagi (9:17), Babicová (9:28) and Kedronová (9:39).
