CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Kent State Dr. Paula Treckel women's golf team closed its 2025-26 season Wednesday at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, posting a final-round 6-over 286 — its lowest team score of the tournament — to finish eighth in the 12-team field at 22-over 862 at The UNC Finley Golf Course.
The Golden Flashes improved their team score in each of the three rounds, going 289-287-286, with Michigan State and Virginia emerging from a three-way sudden-death playoff at 18-over to claim the final two NCAA Championship berths. Texas (5-under) captured the regional title, joined by North Carolina (6-over), Oklahoma State (8-over), Michigan State and Virginia as the five teams advancing to the national championship May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Oklahoma State's Marta Silchenko and Princeton's Thanana Kotchasanmanee shared medalist honors at 6-under 204.
Veronika Kedronová once again led the Flashes, carding an even-par 70 to finish the tournament tied for seventh at 1-under 209. The junior from Rožnov pod Radhoštem, Czech Republic, was one of nine players in the 69-player field to break par for 54 holes.
Petra Babicová closed with the round of the day for the Flashes, a 1-under 69 that ranked among the lowest scores posted across the entire field on Wednesday, to finish tied for 10th at even-par 210. The sophomore's three rounds in the 70s capped the strongest individual showing of her spring.
Leon Takagi rounded out the team's counting scores with a 3-over 73 to finish at 10-over 220, while Isabella Goyette (76) and Gracie Larsen (74) closed at 15-over 225 and 16-over 226, respectively.
