
Hall and Tyrrell Win Gold on Day 2 at MAC Outdoor T&F Championships

MUNCIE, Ind. – Amare Hall won his second outdoor long jump title in a row and Linkon Tyrrell pulled away from the competition in the decathlon as Kent State continued competition at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
Hall entered his final attempt of the long jump in fourth place before soaring over the field with a mark of 24'-10.50". He is the first Golden Flash to win back-to-back gold in the long jump since Marc Mitchell in 2004 and 2005.
Tyrrell recorded personal-bests in the pole vault (13'-6.25") and 1,500-meter run (4:53.89) and finished with 7,126 points in the decathlon, which puts him eighth on Kent State's all-time performance list. His gold is the fifth straight by a Flash in the multis event. Jack Dillen totaled 6,650 points to place third. Mason Murphy also scored in the event and finished sixth with 5,803 points.
Tony Lambert added four points to the team score with a personal-best of 56'-4" for fifth in the shot put.
Kent State had seven additional athletes advance to Saturday's final in running events. Jacob Stanley, Sean Callahan Jr. and Chaz Sakala advanced in the 100-meter dash, Beau Harkelroad and Jack Dillen moved on in the 100-meter hurdles, Micah Coates in the 400-meter dash and Dylan McBride in the 800-meter run.
The Flashes sit third in the team standings with 56 points.
The triple jump will get the final day of the championship meet started at 10:30 a.m.
