KENT, Ohio — Head coach Fran Recchia announced the recent signing of three student-athletes who will join for the Kent State women's basketball program for the beginning of summer workouts next week.
Point guard Talia Harris (Mercer) and wing/forward Da'Nia McClain (Robert Morris) are transfers with Division I experience, while guard Sini Luukkonen (Helsinki, Finland) is the Golden Flashes' first European signee since 2011.
Talia Harris | 5-7 Point Guard | Fishers, Ind. | Mercer
Harris brings two seasons of experience at the Division I level and appeared in 56 games at Mercer. She started 23 games and posted averages of 7.8 points and 1.7 assists per game during her freshman campaign.
Recchia on Harris: "Talia is a true point guard who brings experience, leadership, and a high basketball IQ to our program. Coming from a strong basketball background, she understands what it takes to compete and win at a high level. Just as importantly, Talia has an engaging personality and a natural ability to build relationships, making her a great fit for our program and culture. Our Flash family is going to enjoy getting to know Talia and watching the difference she makes both on and off the floor."
Sini Luukkonen | 5-10 Guard | Helsinki, Finland
Luukkonen played this past season for Torpan Pojat of the Korisliiga, which is the top basketball league in Finland. The youngest member of the roster, she averaged 6.3 points per game. In 2025, Luukkonen was selected as the top player at the 2025 Finnish Under-19 Championship after scoring 23.4 points per contest. She has participated in national team camps for several years.
Recchia on Luukonen: "Sini is an elite guard and an even better person, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome her to our program. She will make an immediate impact within our culture while adding depth and versatility to our guard play. Sini brings maturity and experience, and I know our Flash Family is going to love getting to know her and watching her play."
Da'Nia McClain | 6-2 Wing/Forward | Harper Woods, Mich. | Robert Morris
McClain totaled 39 points, 25 rebounds, four blocks, three assists and three steals over 18 games during her freshman campaign at Robert Morris. She recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in 22 minutes of action against Point Park.
Recchia on McClain: "Da'Nia will bring tremendous versatility to our program and impact the game in so many ways. Her ability to provide depth across the wing and forward positions, combined with her explosive style of play makes her an exciting addition to our team. Da'Nia has an incredible personality, she is a true connector and will add great value to the culture and relationships within our program. Our Flash family is going to love getting to know Da'Nia and watching the impact she makes both on and off the court."
