Lubbock, Texas – The Kent State Soccer team dropped their final non-conference matchup of the season on Friday night after a visit to the John Walker Soccer Complex at Texas Tech University in front of a record crowd in Lubbock.Â
The Red Raiders started the game by taking an early lead, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes. That included two goals in a seven-minute span from Kaitlyn Giametta of the home team. However, the Flashes defense played impressively for the remaining 75 minutes of the game as the game ended in a 3-0 final score in favor of Texas Tech.
KSU finished the game with three shots, with two of them being on target. Texas Tech shot the ball 17 times, but finished with just six shots on goal. The Flashes were unable to earn any corner kicks, while the Red Raiders recorded five.
Senior Leah Shaffer once again played all 90 minutes in goal for the second game this season. She was able to contribute three saves on 17 shots faced in a game where the defense played better as the game progressed.
