Kent State takes a two-match winning streak on the road and travels to Arlington, Texas for three matches as part of the UTA Tournament.

PREVIEWING THE FLASHES
After falling in three sets to host Virginia Tech in the opener, Kent State earned five-set victories over Coppin State and William & Mary to go 2-1 at the Hokie Invitational. The Golden Flashes overcame a 2-0 deficit in the finale against W&M for the first reverse sweep since 2021.
Junior Nadia Miller earned a spot on the all-tournament team after leading Kent State with 3.04 points per set, 1.23 blocks per set and a .315 hitting percentage. Sophomore Avrey Rigney recorded a team-high 32 kills (2.46/set) and set new career-high marks for both kills (15 vs. Coppin State) and digs (12 vs. William & Mary). Senior Mercedez Brown and junior Vanessa Imoh also were productive at the pins and posted one double-digit kills performance each. Brown totaled 25 kills and Imoh added 22.
Senior Christina Vigil was the primary setter and averaged 6.15 assists per set. Redshirt freshman Jordyn Anderson totaled 10 assists and two digs over three sets in her first collegiate action.
Lesley Furuta wore the libero jersey all weekend and led the defense with an average of 3.31 digs per set to lead the defense.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Army
The Black Knights went 2-1 during the opening weekend of the season, beating Sacred Heart and UAlbany while falling to Iowa. Right side Kennedy Jones led the offense with an average of 2.67 kills per set and outside hitter Janie Deapen added 2.17 kills per set. Army ranks 11th in the country in aces per set (2.58), as three different players recorded at least seven aces during the opening weekend.
UT Arlington
The Mavericks open their home schedule after earning victories over UTSA and SIUE while losing to Arkansas this past weekend. Outside hitter Camryn McMinn had a monster weekend and averaged a team-high 3.42 kills per set. Outside hitter Evyn Snook added 2.75 kills per set and hit at a .283 clip. Libero Samantha Glenn paces the defense with an average of 3.92 digs per set.
Sam Houston
The Bearkats lost just two sets while going 3-0 with wins over Cal State Fullerton, McNeese State and Miami (OH). Sam Houston averaged 2.64 blocks per set and ranks 11th in the country in opponent hitting percentage (0.94). Offensively, Chloe Monson was the go-to attacker and averaged 4.27 kills per set.

Kent State will travel to visit Mercyhurst University for three contests as part of the Laker Invitational on Sept. 11-12.
