Josh Pleasant will once again be one of Kent State’s starting cornerbacks.
2009 Sophomore Season
Started all 12 games at cornerback…finished third on the team with 73 tackles (56 solo)…led the team with 11 pass break-ups and was fourth in the MAC with 12 passes defended…forced three fumbles…had nine stops, three pass break-ups and a fumble recovery against Miami Sept. 26…recorded second career interception Oct. 10 against Bowling Green…made 12 tackles (eight solo), three pass break-ups and forced a fumble in season-finale against Buffalo Nov. 27.
2008 Freshman Season
Participated in 11 games at defensive back, starting back-to-back contests against Akron (Oct. 4) and Ohio (Oct. 11)…earned distinction as team’s Defensive Rookie of the Year…piled up 22 tackles and an interception in rookie campaign…recorded first career pick at Bowling Green Nov. 1…made six stops on Nov. 18 against Northern Illinois…also returned six punts and a kickoff…one of eight true freshmen to earn a varsity letter.
Prior To Kent State
Recorded six interceptions and returned a pair of punts for touchdowns at Hargrave Academy…Washington Post All-Met and All-Sentinel selections after recording 62 tackles, a pair of interceptions and over 1,000 yards of total offense his senior year at Watkins Mill High School…coached by Robert Prunty at Hargrave and Ivan Hicks at Watkins Mill.

Born June 18, 1989 in Hollywood, Fla.…son of Mark and Robin Pleasant…has three sisters, Christina, Rachel and Tiffany, and two brothers, Chris and James…sister Christina was an All-Big 12 performer on the Missouri track team (1997-00)…undecided on a major.
