• In first appearance of the season (February 18 at Winthrop), threw one inning with one strikeout, no hits and no runs.
• Made first start of the season on March 28 at Pittsburgh. Went 2.1 innings with one strikeout.
• Season-high four strikeouts in 3.2 innings at Penn State on April 25.
• Longest start of the season matched career-long four innings pitched with a career-tying four strikeouts.
2011 Freshman Season Highlights
• Made 12 appearances with three starts.
• Member of pitching staff that ranked sixth in the nation in team ERA with a 2.66 mark.
• Recorded a 2-1 pitching record with a 3.80 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 23.2 innings.
• Made first collegiate appearance of his career vs. Wagner (2/27) at the Johnny Gill Memorial Tournament in Winthrop, S.C., tossing the seventh and eighth innings and tallying one strikeout in relief as Kent State rolled to a 13-2 triumph.
• Pitched 1.2 relief frames at Penn State (4/5), fanning three and posting a zero on the scoreboard to earn his first career pitching win in a 7-6 victory for Kent State.
• Earned his first career start in a midweek game against Cleveland State (4/27), striking out two over four innings to help Kent State earn a 6-4 win.
• Struck out three over two frames in his second career start as Kent State beat Xavier (5/10), 3-2.
• Blanked Cleveland State (5/16) and tallied three strikeouts over the fifth and sixth innings in relief duty to earn his second mound triumph as Kent State posted a 6-2 win.
• Played summer ball for the Southern Ohio Copperheads of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, recording a win and 10 strikeouts in six appearances -- including four starts -- to help the Copperheads clinch the GLSCL South Division title.
Prior to Kent State
• Named to the 2010 Mizuno All-Ohio Team as well as garnering First Team All-Eastern District and Ohio Valley Athletic Conference AAA Player of the Year honors at St. Clairsville High School under head coach Tom Sliva.
• Also named 2010 Tri-Captain of the All-Valley Team in addition to earning three letters in baseball for the Red Devils.
• Competed for the St. Clairsville American Legion team under head coach Joe Slavik.
• Also earned four letters in basketball.
