- Offensive Graduate Assistant
Bill Nickell joined Kent State’s staff as offensive graduate assistant in June of 2014. Nickell spent the previous three seasons at his alma mater, Urbana University.
In his last two seasons at Urbana, Nickell served in a full-time role as strength and conditioning coach and offensive line coach. By his third season, he was promoted to run game coordinator. In his first year on staff as a graduate assistant, he was also the team's video coordinator and equipment manager.
In 2012, four Blue Knight offensive linemen earned all-conference honors under Nickell's guidance. The following year, lineman Kyle Wallace was an Academic All-America First Team selection.
As a a player, Nickell was named to the all-conference first team in 2010. He was also an academic all-conference selection. Urbana's starting center, Nickell was a two-year captain, anchoring a line that led to some of the best offensive performances in program history.
A native of Celina, Ohio, Nickell was a two-time all-conference selection as Celina High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Urbana in 2011 and is currently working toward a master's degree in sports administration.
