Jaren Maybin is in his second year at Kent State as offensive graduate assistant coach, where he assists with the wide receivers and running backs. The Baltimore, Maryland native is a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan University.
Maybin joined the staff after serving one season as the running backs coach at Methodist University (N.C.). Prior to Methodist, he was a graduate assistant coach (RBs) for three seasons at Carroll University (Wisc.) where he coached the school's all-time leading rusher and scorer, as well as the Wisconsin Private College Player of the Year.
Maybin was a four-year letterman at running back at Iowa Wesleyan (2006-09). He established himself as one of the top running backs in school history during his career. Maybin was a two-time All-Mid-States Football Association Midwest League performer. He was named first team All-MSFA Midwest in 2008 after gaining 1,118 all-purpose yards and scoring eight touchdowns. In 2009 he was selected second team all-league. Maybin produced the seventh highest single-season rushing yardage in 2008 and is ranked fourth in career rushing yards in school history.
Maybin is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport & recreational management at Kent State University.
