Kent State head football coach Mark Carney announced the addition of Kerry Dixon as the program’s new wide receivers coach in Summer 2025.
Dixon arrives in Kent following two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, where he assisted in developing quarterbacks, including Pro Bowler Tyler Huntley and former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson. During the 2022 season, Baltimore utilized three starting quarterbacks—Jackson, Huntley, and Anthony Brown—with Dixon playing a key role in ensuring stability and preparation across the QB room. In 2023, Dixon helped coach Lamar Jackson to being named the NFL MVP after Jackson threw for 3,678 yards and 24 touchdowns. Jackson also ran for 821 yards and five touchdowns.
Before his NFL stint, Dixon built an impressive resume with 15 years of collegiate coaching experience, including positions at Georgia Tech, Florida, Toledo, Florida International, and more. From 2019 to 2021, Dixon was instrumental in Georgia Tech’s offensive transition from a triple-option attack to a pro-style spread system, mentoring future NFL receiver Jalen Camp and standout freshman Ahmarean Brown, who tied Calvin Johnson’s school record for touchdown catches by a freshman.
Dixon previously coached wide receivers at the University of Florida (2015–17), where he was named one of the nation’s Top 25 recruiters by Rivals.com and helped develop Antonio Callaway and Tyrie Cleveland—two of the first freshmen to record 100-yard receiving games in Gators history.
His experience also includes coaching running backs at Toledo (2018), Florida International (2014), Florida Atlantic (2012–13), and Montana State (2010–11), and serving as offensive coordinator at Stillman in 2009. He began his collegiate coaching career working with Morgan State and Texas Southern quarterbacks.
As a player, Dixon began his career as a quarterback at Baylor before transferring to Hampton University, where he started for two seasons and was selected for the 2003 HBCU All-Star Game.
A Houston native and graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Dixon and his wife, Robin, have four children: daughters Charlee, Rylee, and Reneé, and son Kerry III.
