After making a significant contribution the second half of 2008, Derek McBryde enters the fall atop the depth chart at split end...one of the fastest players on the team and a tremendous playmaker, he needs to become more consistent.
2008 Junior Season
Appeared in five games at wide receiver...second on team in kickoff returns with 14 for 289 yards (20.6 avg.)...posted 11 catches for 142 yards...ran back seven kicks for 143 yards at Bowling Green Nov. 1...recorded four kickoff returns for 100 yards in addition to season-high three receptions for 54 yards at Miami Oct. 25.
2007 Sophomore Season
Appeared in nine games, earning first career start against Northern Illinois on Nov. 10...second on the team with 687 all-purpose yards...third on the team in receiving yards (254) and yards per catch (15.9), while ranking fourth with 16 receptions...hauled in a career long 45-yarder against Miami on Oct. 6...caught seven passes for 124 yards that day, one of only two times a KSU receiver had 100 or more yards in a game...his seven receptions was tied for the most in a game by a KSU receiver...returned 22 kickoffs for 426 yards, averaging 19.4 yards per return...had a season-long 37-yard return against Central Michigan Oct. 27...had one rush for seven yards against the Huskies.
2006 Redshirt Freshman Season
Played in 11 games for the Golden Flashes, moving to wide receiver at the end of the season...caught two passes for a total of 21 yards against Ball State Nov. 24.

Was a two-time All-Senate League selection at Glenville...helped Tarblooders to a 12-2 record and regional championship as a senior...registered 50 tackles, one interception and broke up six passes as a senior...made 35 tackles and four interceptions as a senior while scoring a total of six touchdowns...had two picks as a sophomore and also returned a kickoff for a score...was coached by Ted Ginn Sr....was Division I state champion in the 4x200 relay and the 4x100 relay, which he anchored...also played baseball and basketball.
