Richard McNutt joined Doug Martin's staff this spring as the cornerbacks coach. McNutt brings a wide array of experience, from playing on a national championship team at Ohio State to working for the Cleveland Browns last season.

In 2008, McNutt served as the assistant defensive backs coach for the Browns. As a team, Cleveland stood second in the NFL with 23 interceptions after ranking 14th the previous season.

McNutt's stint in the NFL came on the heels of spending the previous four years as the defensive backs coach at a trio of schools: Washington & Jefferson College (2004-05), Virginia Military Institute (2006) and Mid-American Conference foe Toledo (2007).

A native of Park Forest, Ill., he played cornerback at Ohio State from 2000-02, helping the Buckeyes to the Big Ten and national titles in 2002. McNutt graduated from OSU in 2004 with a bachelor's in family resource management, specializing in consumer affairs.
