•Was a four-year letter winner at Valley High School under throwing coach Jeff Dunham

•Was All-Southern Ohio Conference and all-district his senior year in the shot put and discus his senior year while he won a SOC title in the shot put and discus his junior year
•Had career bests of 54’-5” in the shot put and 157’-4” in the discus
•Was also a three-year letter winner in football for the Indians
•Was named All-Ohio his senior year while he was All-SOC and all-district his junior and senior seasons
